This page was created to spread awareness of the U.S. Military’s proposal to use Pagan Island for live-fire and military training (which could include everything from artillery to bombing) This is after the CNMI’s plan, to lease Pagan Island to Japanese investors as a dump for millions of tons of tsunami debris, was shelved. Pagan is a small island in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. It is one of the most biologically and geologically diverse islands in the archipelago, and is home to many threatened and endangered species, some of which are found nowhere else in the world. In addition, Pagan island is one of the most habitable of the Northern most islands in the CNMI. The CNMI is a small island nation limited in land, Using Pagan island for live-fire training, is not only environmentally unconscionable, but is degrading to the people of the CNMI, and disenfranchises Pagan Islanders with indigenous rights to the island.

Though I do support your efforts not to use Pagan as a garbage dump, you’d have much more credibility if you had your basic facts straight. There are no Marine bases in Osaka Japan, the Marines were due to be transferred from Okinawa. Okinawa is a small island (but much larger than CNMI’s landmass) about 2 hour flight south of Osaka. Pagan should be left as a wildlife sanctuary with no mining or garbage dumping!
Thank you for the correction I miss typed. I meant Okinawa
